Mike Calvert Toyota Community InvolvementCollaborative for Children is a nonprofit that strengthens early education throughout Greater Houston. They work with parents, educators, and local leaders to make sure our region's children are ready to succeed in the long term. One of the programs supported by Collaborative for Children is Sunshine Child Care and their Children's College Bound from Birth initiative. The program works to improve kindergarten readiness, with the ultimate goal of increasing college preparation rates.� Mike Calvert Toyota is proud sponsors of the Black Heritage Committee for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Black Heritage Day-long festivities include live entertainment on the Stars Over Texas Stage from Houston's finest bands, choirs, dance teams, cheerleader teams, and fine arts; special entertainment at the Champion Wine Garden and in The Hideout; and historical and educational displays around the grounds.� Prairie View A&M University is the largest in a network of 19 historically black colleges and universities within the 1890 Land-Grant system? PVAMU continues to be dedicated to providing educational opportunity for all people through innovative scientific research and community minded Cooperative Extension programs.� The university will be celebrating 125 years as an 1890 Land Grant Institution in April. Texas Southern University is heralded as a pioneer and has distinguished itself by producing a significant number of African American students who have obtained post-secondary and advanced degrees. The university's enrollment has grown from 2,303 students to more than 9,700 undergraduate and graduate students from across the world. Although initially established to educate African Americans, Texas Southern University has become one of the most diverse institutions in Texas.
