Maintenance Every 5,000 Miles

Not long into your relationship with your Toyota Corolla is when you need to perform your first maintenance. Once you reach the 5,000-mile mark or six months of driving, whichever comes first, you need to perform the following services:

  • Inspect and adjust all fluid levels
  • Inspect wiper blades
  • Rotate tires
  • Visually inspect brake system

Repeat these services each time you drive 5,000 miles.

Toyota Corolla Maintenance Schedule: 10,000-Mile Maintenance

The next time your Toyota Corolla requires maintenance is when you reach the 10,000-mile marker. When you’ve driven every 10,000-mile mark or 12 months, whichever comes first, maintenance required in addition to the 5,000-mile maintenance includes replacing your engine oil and oil filter.

Regular oil changes are important to keep your engine healthy for years to come. That’s because engine oil lubricates all the moving parts under your hood. This way nothing clinks or bangs together so there’s no extra friction.

Engine oil also filters out potential toxins from your engine. As you drive, dirt, dust, and other debris gets kicked up. Without engine oil, this debris would get into your engine and cause corrosion, reducing the overall lifespan of your engine.

Maintenance at 30,000 Miles

Once you and your Corolla have been together for a few years, 30,000 miles or 36 months, there’s some extra maintenance you must perform to ensure the longevity of your sedan. In addition to the previously listed maintenance, at this milestone additional service includes the inspection of:

  • Engine coolant
  • Fuel lines and connections
  • Ball joints
  • Brake linings/drums/brake pads/discs

If any of these parts appear to need repairs or replacements, perform that service, too.

While sticking with this maintenance plan is an easy way to keep your Toyota Corolla happy and healthy, some drivers may need to perform the required maintenance earlier. Those who drive in special operating conditions, which include dirt roads, in cold temperatures, and on short commutes, will need to perform extra maintenance at each milestone.
