To create that aforementioned sporty sedan, the Corolla and Civic both offer an available Sport mode to bring more zest to your drives. There are also available paddle shifters on the steering wheel to give you a more dynamic feel. However, you will see some differences in the engines and transmissions they offer.
On the Corolla, you’ll find the following engine options:
- Standard 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine
- Available 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine
- Available 1.8-liter 4-cylinder hybrid engine
On the Civic, you’ll find a standard 4-cylinder engine and an available turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, but there won’t be a hybrid option for extra variety.
There are also differences in the transmissions that are available. The Civic has four: three Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) choices, including the electronically-controlled CVT for the hybrid engine. There’s also an available 6-speed manual transmission. On the Civic, however, you’ll only find two CVT options—one for each engine—and no manual option like on the Corolla.

When equipped with this engine, your fuel efficiency in the Toyota Corolla is upgraded to a projected EPA-estimated 53 city/52 highway MPG.* The Honda Civic, on the other hand, doesn’t have a hybrid option and its highest fuel efficiency is an EPA-estimated 33 city/42 highway MPG.
Drivers looking to travel with fewer interruptions will get that with the Toyota Corolla.
Your commute should be fun, right? That’s why you’ll find connective technology in both models to make even the longest trips more enjoyable. The two vehicles come with a few shared standard features, including the following:

- Android Auto™
- Bluetooth® wireless technology
However, the Corolla includes a few other features as standard, including connections to Amazon Alexa, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and SiriusXM®. In the Civic, on the other hand, you’ll have to upgrade to the highest trim level to find SiriusXM®. Also, both the Wi-Fi hotspot and Amazon Alexa services aren’t offered at all with the Honda model.
